Jun 03, 2015 Alternatively, you may just decide you would prefer to use roman numerals, arabic numerals, symbols or whatever for your footnotes or endnotes, and want to change them. How to change the number format for footnotes/endnotes. In this example, we’re starting off with some footnotes or endnotes that use roman numerals (i, ii, iii ). May 07, 2016 Mike, I'm a fellow Mac user who was having the same problem as you: Once I converted footnotes to endnotes (by highlighting all of the footnotes, and then right-clicking and choosing 'Convert to Endnote'), I didn't know how to change the default Roman numerals in an existing file to Arabic numerals. Here's what worked: 1. How do i change endnotes from roman to arabic numerals in word for machine. Aug 08, 2013 Question: Q: In Word, how do I convert all endnotes from i, ii, iii to 1, 2, 3? I half-converted to Macs three years ago, but continued to use a PC desktop until a year ago; and on the PC, the Word default of numbering endnotes with small Roman numerals (i, ii, iii) was easy to fix, so I continued running that fix on the PC. May 18, 2018 I just got a new MAC with Word installed, and I discovered I no longer have a small icon at the bottom-right corner of the Footnote Group on the References tab of the ribbon. As a result, I can't seem to locate a way to change endnotes from Roman numerals to Arabic numbers. Mar 06, 2007 By default, Word uses small Roman numerals for endnote reference marks. If you decide later that you do not want to use the default number format, you don't have to delete the endnote numbers.
